Therapeutic Clay Classes- Medicine Bowls

Therapeutic Clay Classes- Medicine Bowls

$125.00

Come join us in creating your own special medicine bowl! Medicine, or healing bowls, were perhaps first used in Turkey during the 12th century. Their purpose was the belief that humans or animals that were sick could drink from these bowls to seek healing. Later in history, and even today, medicines are placed in mortar bowls (another form of healing bowl) and ground with pestles to create necessary medicines that could be added to water or food. Using hand-building clay techniques you will create your own medicine bowl to use and pass down through the generations!

This is a three-part class:

Class 1 (July 23, 11-1PM): Create your bowl.

Class 2 (July 30, 11-1PM): Glaze your bowl (add color)

Class 3 (August 5, 6:30-8:30PM): Consecrate your bowl

Classes 1 & 2 are taught by Judith Wing. Class 3 is taught by Wendy Walter
