Full Body Clay Exfoliation at Home
What you need
A bowl
Warm water
Your CLA (a fine powdered clay works best)
A soft washcloth or exfoliating mitt
Optional: a small amount of simple oil for after (like castor oil or another body oil you already like)
Step 1: Start with warmth
Take a warm shower or bath for 5–10 minutes. The goal is to soften the skin so you don’t have to scrub hard.
Step 2: Mix a “silky paste”
In a bowl, mix clay with warm water until it becomes a smooth, yogurt-like paste. Let it sit for 1–2 minutes, then stir again. If it feels too thick, add a splash more water.
Step 3: Apply in sections
Turn the water off (or step out of the stream). Apply the clay paste to one body area at a time: arms, legs, torso, back if you can reach, then feet and hands last.
Step 4: Exfoliate gently
With damp hands or a damp washcloth, use small circles and light pressure. Let the clay do the work. If your skin starts to feel “draggy,” add a little more water rather than scrubbing harder.
Step 5: Rinse before it fully dries
Rinse while the clay is still slightly damp. If you let it dry completely, it can feel too drying for many people.
Step 6: Seal in moisture
Pat dry, then apply a simple moisturizer or a small amount of oil while skin is still slightly warm. This helps lock in hydration after exfoliation.
Frequency
Normal skin: once a week
Very dry or sensitive skin: every other week
Oily or rough patches (elbows, knees, heels): up to twice a week just on those areas
